What is a "Birthmom" or a "Lifemother"?
There is a large market for babies in the United States. When a mother is targeted as the source of a baby for
adoption, people begin calling her a "not-mother". The term "unwed" used to be used to minimize a single mother, making
her seem like less than a mother. Now the dehumanizing terms "birthmother", "birthmom" and " life mother" are used, making a mom appear to be nothing but an incubator. This makes it easier for people to feel entitled
not to help her, but to use her to get a baby for adoption.
A mother is not an inanimate object (not a "birthmom" or " lifemother") but a human being. The word "birthmom" is as offensive as a racial slur. It is important to use
the respectful term "mother" or "mom" for all mothers who have had babies.

the adopters bought "counseling services" designed to get you to surrender your child? There are also government-funded
programs to advertise in order to obtain more babies for adoption.
That's why it is important to use the respectful term "mother" or "mom" for all mothers who have had
babies.
